Pay to rank, without the whales

Nobody buys the top. They climb to it.

A price board for Mac and iOS apps where you never name your own number. A bid costs the gap to the app above you, plus a dollar, so the leader can only ever be passed one dollar at a time. And every listing's heat halves every 24 hours, which means a position is rented, never owned.

Two rules keep the top reachable.

Boards where anyone can name their price die the same way: someone drops a number nobody wants to beat, and the game quietly ends. Both rules below exist to stop that.

01

A bid costs the gap, plus a dollar

The amount is computed, never chosen. To pass the app above you, you pay exactly what separates you from it and one dollar more. There is no field to type a bigger number into.

So the most expensive bid on the board is always one dollar past the current leader. A challenger cannot end the game with a single cheque.

02

Heat halves every 24 hours

Rank comes from heat, and heat decays continuously: half gone in a day, three quarters in two. Holding a position costs something every hour you hold it.

Walk away and you slide down on your own, without anybody having to outbid you.

The board

Ranked by heat, priced live, refreshed as bids clear.

    The board is empty

Whichever app lists first takes the top for $5 and holds it until somebody pays a dollar more. That has never been cheaper than it is right now.
